PUBLIC SPEAKING


Being on stage, to be the center of attention is really challenging but it is not something easy. moreover to speak in a foreign language. many English students are skillful enough but not really competent in doing it. Public speaking skill is not only useful for the job related to the stage but almost all the job need public speaking skill.

Unit 1
Ice breaker

Ice breaker is the way how to melt the situation someone new. It’s important skill in communication. It’s one  way to wider the  network and socialization. It becomes the first step to master public speaking skill.

Some tips to do ice breaker’s diaolog:

1.       Make the first move
2.       Address him or her with the proper name
3.       Avoid asking personal identification such as religion, age, status, salary, etc
4.       Use common tips such as school, family, travel, food, entertainment
5.       Reduce using too much yes no question, instead using more WH questions
6.       Involve your body language to show your interest and enthusiasm

Public speake has two definitions based on Webster third new international dictionary, they are:
1.       The art of process of making speech on public
2.       The art of science of effective oral communication with an audience
Your ability in public speaking can be trained through regular exercise and strong willingness. Malcolm Gladwell said “THE OUTLIER’’ It’s a world class skill. Deep practice
And so the skill for being conversationalist it doesn’t come spontaneously it needs learning for sure and positive habits. Some people seem only wasting times by talking and asking lips service

According to larry king there are 8 characteristics to determine your effectiveness in making dialog:
1.       See from different view
2.       Having broad knowledge
3.       Strong passion for what are you doing in life
4.       Focus on the object as the dialog partner
5.       Having big curious city
6.       Having empathy
7.       Having sense of humor
8.       Be yourself with your style
Public speaking skill seems to easier to manage when you already become an interesting person in partnership dialogue feel the excitement when someone new considered that you are such a pleasant person

BEGINNING STEPS 

As a speaker you will have 4 challenges: 
1. how to compromise the fear

3. how to be persuasive 
4. how to encourage the audience 


Unit 3
WHAT TO CONCERN 
public speaking is an art of communication. there must have some strategies and tips to make it great in performance for public

So, what to concern to improve the competency of public speaking there 3 points here; 
1. Body speaks for 55%
2. Vocal Variety influence for 38%
3. Words contain for 7%

good public speaking performance should have well organize concept. it contains introductions, body, and conclusion

2. problem solving technique 
3. chronological technique


there are two parts of an interesting closing they are 
1. review the main points
2. concluding grabber 

at least, you don't need to be worried over these things the vocabularies the education background the accents, the voice and the audience's opinions. Believe in yourself. put your head up, speak confidently and walk on purpose.
